The Bahd Corner: Story Time With Dan Aykroyd

From Justin

Good day. I sent this to Jay and Dan but I thought you would like this story.

I am writing to you from beautiful Niagara Falls, Ontario. (No, not from Sundowner Gentleman Club) After the recent addition of Dan Aykroyd to the Canadian Wall Of Fame on the Jay and Dan Podcast reminded me of my own mangled childhood!

I grew up in Kingston, Ontario specifically Sydenham (Syd-Num) which is about 20minutes north of the city. In this small little village of about 500 people has the luxury of being the homes of Doug Gilmore, Kirk Muller, and Dan Aykroyd. These wonderful Canadians are always visiting the local store in the village.

Rewind to 1996. When I was 6 I suffered from an issue called Testicular Torsion. Essentially, my BALLS got twisted while I was sleeping. This required surgery and all that junk. Well, while we were at the local store to get some medication for my pain. Dan Aykroyd was in the store with a visiting Jim Belushi. My dad, who thought he was hilarious decided to go up and explain the story to these two legends of Blues. Dan and Jim came up to me and gave me a high five and all that stuff. They were really nice.

Fast Forward two years and I’m in the same store this time with a broken elbow. Sure enough there is Dan Aykroyd again this time with his with Donna Dixon. My dad, AGAIN goes up to Dan and asks if I could get my cast signed. He agrees and signs my cast. He looks at me for two second and says loudly.

HEY DONNA! THIS IS THE KID I TOLD YOU ABOUT THAT GOT HIS BALLS TWISTED!!!

This was yelled and was heard by about 40-50 people. Next day at school I was forever known as the Ball Twisted kid.

Thanks Dan Aykroyd.

Love the pod bahds!!!!

  1. How’s it goin?

Just want to thank you for the time and effort put into this wonderful podcast. As a fiercely proud Canadian, I’m always on the lookout for entertainment that accurately reflects us and shines a bright light on why we should be proud of this great country. Unfortunately very few things hit the mark. You guys do.

I’m kind of late to the party, but have now eagerly consumed every episode and look forward to more. I’ve been enthusiastically spreading the word about the show around my admittedly very small circle and just wish I could do more. The podcast deserves to be a must listen for all Canadians.

    Thanks again bahds!!
